The Silverspring House The
Silver Spring House dates back to the 1940s when neighbouring ranchers
"The Alms" owned the SN ranch. The Alm family moved the house
to its present location after it was used as a cookhouse at the SN homeplace. Since that time, The Sliver Spring House has provided
lodging for most of the hired men and their families who worked on the
SN Ranch over the years. It was to this house that Charlie and Sherry
came when they married in 1981. Today,
The Silver Spring House, named for a crystal clear spring that meanders just below the house a ways, still enjoys its own ranchyard quite remote from the main SN
Ranch holdings. Guests may chose to take advantage of the horse shelter
and corrals that comprise part of the yard. If guests wish to experience
total privacy from any sign of "neighbouring" civilization,
a stay in The Silver Spring House is recommended... for the serenity,
beauty and privacy that this accommodation venue provides. The Silver Spring House is classy and tastefully decorated in a western theme - from the wagon wheel furniture, barnwood covered walls, red bandana print curtains, barnwood doors with gate latches to the western gear and artifacts placed strategically around. New, but authentic cowboy dishes, can be set on the traditional round kitchen table, which boasts a 'Lazy Susan' and brands from all the neighboring ranches and friends around the area painted on its base. Boots, Hats and Ropes are the flavor of this western house. For those folks seeking the ranch lifestyle, the Silver Spring House features a cowboy experience like none other. Each room features a different western theme: 'The Barn' (master bedroom) has a queen bed; 'The Bunkhouse' has a double bed; 'The Tack Room' has a single bed and the 'Log Cabin' room has two single beds. In total, the Silver Spring House sleeps up to 7 people. It has a wood-burning fireplace and is equipped with all amenities for a self-catered holiday. The view from the Silver Spring House is vast as one looks out to gentle rolling hills covered with native grasses and wildflowers all around. Cattle graze peacefully on the hillsides. 'Silver Spring' trickles and bubbles as it passes through the coulee and feeds into the big pond that is stocked with Rainbow Trout. This fishpond is within walking distance of the house. Mr. Big - a well known cagey trout, lives in the murky depths. He has cleverly outwitted several fishermen. You are welcome to try your fishing skills on Mr. Big and a few of his friends... then if you're successful, fry them up for breakfast! Mmmmm! Whatever you do, just come, have a great and peaceful holiday, and take home some memories that will last you a lifetime. |
